On thr tip of the Llyn Peninsula in North Wales, Abersoch captivates, stimulates and revitalizes those who come to play on its surrounding waters and beaches.  The diversity of locations and conditions unique to this area make it a choice spot amongst surfers, sailors and wakeboarders alike.

At OFFAXIS we are totally addicted. Once our former holiday destination, Abersoch has now been our home for many years now, while some parts have changed the costline remains un-spoilt and continues to offer many activity options from Surfing, Ktesurfing, windsurfing and wake/waterskiing.

We have two stores one in Abersoch on the one way sytem as you are leaving underneath Glanafon garage.  This was our first location, whilst the shop is compacted there is plenty of stock, surfboards, wakeboards wetsuits and some summer clothing!

The People

find out who our amazing staff are and what they get up to at Offaxis

Offaxis (formerly) AOA was started by Tim Mackley and Johnny robinson down on the main beach in Abersoch in 1996.  Abersoch Ocean Adventures was born, offering tuition in waterskiing wakeboarding, windsurfing and surfing.

One of the early Wakeboard comp riders, Johnny 'Tantrum'(as he became known), has been riding since boards had pointy fronts and bindings were, shall we say in the early stages of development. Active involvement in the industry over time has given Johnny a great insight into the developments of the sport and its equipment. He still rides, but it tends to be when its really flat and sunny, and can still put down some solid tricks. A sports science graduate, Johnny is a fully qualified beach life guard, BWS Wakeboard & Water Ski instructor, SBDA examiner, BWS Instructor Trainer and BSA Instructor. An instinctive and nurturing teacher, Johnny's experience and knowledge is on hand to guide you in the right direction.

Tomos is by far one of the most productive members of the team. Known as the bad boy of the group, Tomos is a keen mechanic/cleaner and can be found either changing the oil on the Clwb Land Rover or valeting a random car (so feel free to inquire for prices)! With invaluable local knowledge of the surrounding waters and area, Tomos is one of the latest wakeboard instructors to pull through the ranks with an SBDA and BWS Wakeboard and Water Ski instructors qualification. When heavily persuaded to let someone else drive his precious boat, Tomos also loves a good shred!

The sly dawg of the team. Jamie is a dark horse. He would rather ride than talk about it and shows the grommets along with some of the old boys how its done behind the boat. With the ladies starting to pay attention to his riding skills, Jamie has to take shelter at the skate park where he shows the rest of the team the raw skills that he has developed on a skateboard since he was a nipper. While in work, Jamie can now be found on the boat alongside Tomos or another grommet teaching or ripping with his newly acquired qualifications. Jamie has recently been requested several times for private surf lessons by female customers. Know one knows if this is because of his surfing expertise or his good looks?

Also known as Abs, Abi is without doubt the most organized and efficient member of the team. She has an extensive knowledge of all the shop products and also takes on the near impossible job of keeping all the boys in check! When she isn't in the shop, Abi loves to pull out a few tasty tricks on the wakeboard and has even been spotted around the local surf spots once or twice!
